Extractions

Our dentists make every effort to save natural teeth. However, extractions are necessary when decay has made the tooth unsalvageable, or when you have an advanced periodontal condition (Periodontal Disease). When the tooth is extracted we offer bone grafting solutions to preserve the alveolar ridge. Preserving your ridge of bone and protecting it is key to any future dental treatment. This will prevent the loss of both width and height. Dental implants, bridges, partial or complete dentures are excellent ways to replace missing teeth and a healthy diet.

FAQ

Do I need my tooth extracted?

If your tooth is very painful, it is likely that your tooth has decayed and could need a root canal or extraction. Specific tests can be done to test the vitality of the nerve. You could notice a bump on the gums, called an abscess, this bump signals an infection is taking place.

What should I expect during an extraction procedure?

You will be profoundly anesthetized during the extraction, although you often are awake. You may notice a little bit of pressure during the procedure, but your dentist will make sure that there is no discomfort.

How long is the healing process?

You may feel some discomfort for the first 2-3 days following the procedure. Your gum tissue will usually be fully healed in 3-4 weeks. Most dental pain can be managed with small regiments of over-the-counter pain medication.
